    Description

From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this RARE and
BEAUTIFUL 1922 AUSTRIAN 1000 KRONEN (Crowns) BANK NOTE Signed In Vienna and guaranteed by the Austro-Hungarian Bank
. Measuring 3 3/8” x 4 1/2” this is decorated front and back, this has very finely engraved designs around the perimeter on the front and back and half of the front has a lovely young woman with flowers in her hair (she may be royalty) and the only printed area on the back is a warning against counterfeiting this note. This 1000 Kronen note is note only one of the most beautiful that I've seen, it is also in fabulous condition given the way these were usually folded tightly for years. This one appears to have one or two light folds but is otherwise in extraodinary condition with sharp corners and no tears, repairs, etc.
These note were printed by the Japanese government as an occupation government for use in the Philippines to replace their native currency. the years 1946-49 and have become a valuable and sought-after collectible item. These certificates were originally used as a means of payment for Japanese military personnel during the war and are a great piece of history from that time. It
actually wasn't all that unusual for countries, and in some cases towns during wars to print their own currencies. What is unusual is to find these pieces in such good condition with no strong folds, tears or other significant defects.

Please see my listings for what I hope is an interesting and eclectic collection of other vintage and antique items. If you purchase one of my items and are interested in others, please ignore the automated invoice you'll get from ebay since they require that I ship within one day of being paid so you can't pay me and ask me to delay shipment since you're still shopping. Just don't pay and drop me a note that you're still shopping and another note when you've finished and I'll invoice you then.
